The Run/Walk For Life Programme

Run/Walk For Life was founded by a medical doctor in 1983, and quickly became a leading fitness and weight management programme in South Africa.

To this day, we are the only exercise programme of its kind to be approved by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of South Africa.

While running and walking are at the core of what we offer our members, Run/Walk For Life is not a traditional running club.

We provide our members with scientifically proven programmes and guidance to help them reach their fitness and health goals.

When joining Run/Walk For Life, you know that you are getting professional, personalised training. Our coaches go through rigorous and regular training to ensure that they can help you reach your full potential.

Run/Walk For Life members exercise in supervised groups of similar ability, meaning that you will not find yourself being pushed too hard and battling to keep up with members who are fitter than you.

By joining Run/Walk For Life, you get access to a wide variety of services.

3 Sessions per week

All our clubs offer a minimum of 3 sessions per week. Some of our flagship clubs also offer additional sessions over weekends for those members who want to do longer distances. Our clubs also regularly host socials and inter-club challenges.  

Rewards

Members receive monthly progress reports and special rewards as they reach specific milestones on their fitness journey. They can also track their progress on the Run/Walk For Life app.

Safety

All exercise groups exercise along pre-marked routes, under the supervision of road leaders – member security is a cornerstone of the programme.

Run/Walk For Life is well known in the fitness industry as a fitness community that is non-competitive and non-threatening. Our clubs are famous for creating environments that are highly social.

Personal coaching

When joining Run/Walk For Life, we will work with you to set and achieve your own personal goals – whether it is to improve your weight, complete a new distance, or to work on health goals like improved blood pressure.

Nutrition

All our members also get access to the eatForLife platform. eatForLife is a dietary and nutritional platform, run by qualified dieticians. eatForLife allows you to tailor your own eating plan with the help of professionals.

Regular challenges

We host a variety of annual challenges. These include our annual Progressive Marathon and FitSlim challenges. The challenges are designed to further assist our members in reaching their full potential and to encourage interaction between our almost 90 clubs.
