FitSlim 2020 is the lifestyle change you’ve craved in lockdown

The year so far may have been marred by challenges, but there’s one challenge that promises to leave its participants in a better state than before – both physically and mentally.

The annual FitSlim Challenge is a yearly opportunity for participants to intensely pursue their weight-loss and fitness goals over the course of eight weeks. Organised by Run/Walk For Life and sister company eatForLife, the FitSlim Challenge is a novel event, with both weight loss and fitness at its core.

Participants in FitSlim 2020 will receive eight-week memberships for the nutritional and weight management programme, eatFor Life, as well as the popular fitness programme, Run/Walk For Life.

The goals of the FitSlim Challenge are evident from its name. To aid participants in attaining their weight-loss and health objectives, the eatForLife programme gives participants and teams access to an individually tailored eating plan, together with weekly weight monitoring at their nearest Run/Walk For Life branch, a weekly live broadcast presented by eatForLife’s head dietician, as well as weekly themed newsletters and facts sheets from eatForLife.

Run/Walk For Life takes the reigns in the fitness leg of the challenge, and eight weeks’ access to the programme includes a medical screening, shoe advice, fitness benchmarking and tracking, and a scientific exercise programme, tailored to the goals and abilities of each individual participant.

While most of the people taking up the challenge this year will leave it in a better physical state than when they started, there is also the added bonus of great prizes for those participants and teams that perform the best in terms of overall weight loss and the number of RWFL sessions they attend. This year, footwear and functional food giants ASICS and FUTURELIFE® come on board as the main sponsors for the event, while The Social Media Company will take the role of official marketing partner for FitSlim 2020.

After the overall percentage weight loss of individuals and teams, together with the number of RWFL sessions attended have been calculated, prizes will be awarded to the overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize nationally, to the winner in each region, and to the 1st and 2nd teams nationally.

Taking the Covid-19 pandemic into account, this year’s FitSlim Challenge provides for participants taking part in the three weekly RWFL sessions remotely, although it should be noted that bonus points will be awarded to participants who attend sessions at their nearest branch, and that the initial and final weigh-ins will have to be done at a RWFL branch. Please be assured that every precaution in terms of sanitisation and social distancing will be taken during sessions. The prime purpose of the challenge is still to coach participants in a safe, secure and controlled outdoor environment, and participants are encouraged to attend sessions at their branch, where all health protocols will be in place.
